Cheques Presented to Tennis Club
Denby Dale Tennis Club Chairman, Les Simister, Project Leader, Roland Sansom and Club members are presented with cheques to fund court re-development.
Kirklees Council Cabinet member, Cllr Jean Calvert hands over a cheque for £50,000 on behalf of Kirklees Council and Simon Reevell MP presents a cheque for £50,000 on behalf of Sport England’s Inspired Facilities fund.
Also present are James Sessford from Sport England and Martin Gonzales from Kirklees Council.
The existing shale courts will be replaced with a carpet surface and new floodlighting will be fitted. this will extend the tennis season and hopefully will encourage more people to participate in the game.
The club is keen to encourage new members of all ages and abilities.
Work will start in September after the main tennis season ends with the Club Championships. The work will take between four and six weeks so it should be possible to resume play in the late autumn providing there is no frost.
